Journey to the North …

May 13th, 2007 by Eve

We started our journey to Penang this Sunday morning with only ONE plan … looking for GOOD FOOD!

First stop - Bidor 2:30pm

This is a small town in Perak about 70km south of Ipoh. It’s just off the North South highway and synonymous for its HERBAL DUCK. There are a number of restaurants serving it but the famous one is Pun Chun. In the past, their ducks are so famous that they are sold out by 1:00pm on weekends. But today, they are available throughout the day ;o)

For non duck eaters like my Papa - you have this char siew version ;o)

Second stop - Ipoh 3:40pm

It took us about 40 minutes to reach Ipoh from Bidor through a mixture of old trunk road and highway. Along the way you will see small roadside stalls selling fresh lotus pods (filled with lotus seeds). It tastes a bit like nuts but you should try it for yourselves. In Bidor, these lotus pods will cost about RM5 for 12 but here, they are only RM1 for 5!
