over sensitive?
i for one would take great care of how to pronounce the name of the person im addressing to…
not sure if im over sensitive but i really don’t like it if you mispronounce my name, heck, some people even call me Evening! usually i would still answer if the person called me politely, im used to being called Eve-lyn, Eeline, Ehlin, Eve, Averin, Avery the list is endless…
today i decided to correct a colleague who has this knack of calling me EVILyn, we sit 3 tables away, (about 30 feet away) she just loves to shout across the open area to me with the whole world listening to her conversation to me… i really hate it… whats the use of an extention line huh?
gosh, don’t know if its because of the pain on the wound that was caused by all those sweat or the lack of oxygen! oh yea, there was a power outage at work today, that caused the aircond to be malfunctioning and creating a suffocatingly hot work condition!!
but she really had it, i haven’t in my past 20 over years corrected someone on how to pronounce my name, and i did it by returning her holler to me, “My mom named me Evelyn not EVILyn”, quite a lot of people heard me too!! :S
yes i can be very mean, especially when im hot, bothered and in pain…

Aye, I used to work in a place where there is a lady who goes by the name Evelyn too.
I have no problem addressing her name though.
The way I pronounced it was kinda like:
E-ve-lyn
if said a bit slowly. In fact, I think most of the time I called her that.
How long have this colleague of yours been calling you EVILyn aye? That’s not very nice.

haha.. Evelyn is actually easy to pronounce. Don’t see why people can mispronounce it.. haha. U should hear how people call me =(
