What makes Tamil/Hindi movie superior

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

If you ever watched any Tamil or Hindi movies in the past, you could relate that nothing is impossible. Read some of the unbelievable scenes below and try to spot them in the future …

  1. In one of the fights, Rajanikanth is shot in the head. To everybody’s surprise, the bullet passes through his ears taking away the tumor along with it and he is cured! Long Live Rajanikanth!
  2. In another movie, Rajanikanth is confronted with 3 gangsters. Rajanikanth has a gun but unfortunately only one bullet and a knife. Guess, what he does? He throws the knife at the middle gangster & shoots the bullet towards the knife. The knife cuts the bullet into 2 pieces, which kills both the gangsters on each side of the middle gangster & the knife kills the middle one.
  3. Rajanikanth is chased by a gangster. Rajanikanth has a revolver but no bullets in it. Guess, what he does. Nah? not even in your remotest imaginations. He waits for the gangster to shoot. As soon as the gangster shoots, Rajanikanth opens the bullet compartment of his revolver and catches the bullet. Then, he closes the bullet compartment and fires his gun. Bang… the gangster dies…
  4. Happened to see another movie for one last time, and thought that at least one movie would follow the theory of physics. The whole movie goes fine and the patrons are happy that all in the world hasn’t changed. Oops, not so fast! The ‘climax’ finally arrives. Rajanikanth gets to know that the villain is on the other side of a very high wall. So high that Rajanikanth can’t jump even if he tries like one of those superman techniques that our heroes normally use. Rajanikanth has to desperately kill the villain because it’s the climax. Rajanikanth suddenly pulls two guns from his pockets. He throws one gun in the air and when the gun has reached above the height of the wall, he uses the second gun and shoots at the trigger of the first gun in the air. The first gun fires off and hits the villain and the villain is dead.

Unbelievable? Believe it … Ripley style

Merdeka

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Unless you’ve been hibernating in a cave (like most of our elected leaders), you would know that KL is actively preparing for the 50th Merdeka celebration. In case you still don’t get it, DBKL help to close the roads around KL so that you will get a chance to test your car brakes, the 30 year old Nuri has been making its round every morning since last week (God bless all of us) and the 2 new Sukhoi Su30MKM fighter jets which were purchased with our tax money have been proudly making passes over Dataran Merdeka.

As a nation, we have achieved a great deal in the last 50 years. But success has its price. Have you noticed that although we enjoy some of the cheapest food, clothes, housing in the world, they are not necessarily more affordable. Just look at fresh graduate salary versus the price of goods below:

  Singapore United Kingdom Malaysia
Average Fresh Graduate Income SGD30,000
(RM69,000)
STG22,000
(RM143,000)
RM26,000
Cost of Petrol (litre) SGD1.80
(RM4.14)
STG0.95
(RM6.20)
RM1.92
Latte at Coffee Bean/Starbucks SGD3.00
(RM6.90)
na RM6.00

Things are cheaper but it’s less affordable. Take petrol for example, we enjoy one of the lowest prices around but when compared dollar to dollar, it is less affordable. This translates to lower purchasing power and may lead to social unrest as people could not afford the life they want. This is just my two cents worth. As we continue to progress, are our people really Merdeka?

Election is coming …

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Last weekend a number of convoys were going around with not just Jalur Gemilang but also political party logos. Clear sign that the election is near … the various parties are coming out of their hibernation.

Question now, have you registered with Suruhanjaya Pilihanraya (Electoral Board) yet? To check, click on the SPR image below:

Bali & its world of massages

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Thanks to Air Asia, Bali is now a cheap holiday destination (even when compared to Langkawi!). And a trip down south is not complete if you don’t try one of their famous massages. But the question is where?

Everywhere you turn in Bali, there’s a massage parlour. The offer starts from Rp35,000 (RM13) for an hour of traditional massage to a whopping Rp400,000 (RM144) or more for a fancy 3 to 5 hour package of mandi (scrub or bath) and ayurvedic or other style of massage of your choice.

We have probably tried about a dozen massages in Bali and our favourite is Passion Spa in Ubud. Ubud is an hour drive from Denpasar airport and spots a cooler weather somewhat like Ringlet in Cameron Highlands. Passion is located off the main road and surrounded by Padi field, fruit trees and shrubs. Owned by some ang moh (like most other businesses in Bali), the furnishing is both traditional and modern …. zen is the word to describe it. The main person to look for here is Iyan Yaspriyana and you just have to try his Ayurveda massage.  Passion is not the cheapest spa around but it is worth the experience Smiley

Team Italy @ 26Aug2007

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

(picture above taken from http://www.mifc.com.my)

I saw from Jasmine’s site on those lovely pictures she took during her two trips for the Team Malaysia and Team Australia and that tempted me to go along with her yesterday night for the Team Italy.

Left the house at 7.30pm sharp and waited after the toll for her and sue to come and lead the way.

While we were stuck in the traffic jam in front of PICC. My dad who was driving the car lost them as there was one turning where the road ahead was blocked and all the cars 3 lanes converged into one lane, he being the good samaritan let the cars cut in front of us and we LOST sue and Jasmine!

SO frustrating, the phone networks were not working, i could only send sms! Then *pop* someone uttered the golden all time favorite “I want to go toilet!”. Already lost and now this pulak *slap forehead*

In the end we parked in front of this building (Kementrian Pertanian & Industri Asas Tani) and went to use their loo. While waiting i took a picture of where we were and sent it to Jasmine, so she would know where we were and maybe still meet up. No reply… Network still congested!

Came back to the car, my dad already took out the 4 portable chairs we brought along and placed it at a place that the view of PICC was not obstructed. So ok la… No choice we will watch from here. By time jasmine managed to call us we already settled down & i was at the loo :P (good choice to park here, near access to toilets haha!)

Didn’t have pictures cos we were quite far away, and those which i did manage to take was so kecil mayung… but please go and view it at jasmine’s site or here at Christopher’s (my brothers pal) Flickr for Team Malaysia and Team Australia they are really good shots!Put some here to tease you to go over hehehe

Tips.
1. If you don’t intend to pay to enter, then bring along a mat or some chairs to sit.
2. Bring mosquito coils
3. Binoculars
4. Be patient its a massive jam to get there (we left the house at 7.30 reached only about
9.15pm) and after the show we only got home about 1.08am.

Nokia Users

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

Thanks to johnny ong i found out that Nokia is conducting a recall on their batteries “BL-5C battery manufactured in Japan between December 2005 and November 2006.

Quickly made a check on my old phone and saw that it was a BL-5C! Luckily mine was a later batch 0670400382066 :P

If you do own an old Nokia phone model, do check out his post Life’s Happenings: Now Nokia is Conducting a Recall for more info
