True meaning of cross selling!!

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Cindy forwarded this to me today and i decided to share it here… if my boss hired him.. i;d be out of a job!

Best Salesman in town

An Indian moves to Montreal and goes to a big department store looking for a job.

The manager asks, “Do you have any sales experience?”

The Indian says, “Yeah, I was a salesman back home”.

Well, the manager liked the young man, so he gave him the job. “You start tomorrow. I’ll come down after we close and see how you did, but let me give you a bit of advice. If a customer comes looking, say, for toothpaste, you might suggest for him a toothbrush, or shaving cream etc. You get the idea?”

“Of course,” the young man said. His first day on the job was rough but he got through it.

After the store was locked up, the manager came down. “How many sales did you make today?

The Indian says, “One”

The manager groans, “Just one? Our sales people average 20 or 30 sales/day. How much was the sale for?”

The Indian says, “$101, 237.64 .”

The manager exclaims, “What? $101,237.64? What did you sell him?”

The Indian replied, “First I sold him a small fish hook. Then I sold him a medium fishhook. Then I sold him a larger fishhook. Then I sold him a new fishing rod. Then I asked him where he was going fishing, and he said down at the coast, so I told him he was going to need a boat, so we went down to the boat department, and I sold him that twin engine Chris Craft. Then he said he didn’t think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I took him down to the automotive department and sold him that 4X4 Pajero.”

The manager says “You mean a guy came in here to buy a fish hook and you sold him a boat and truck?!”

The Indian says, “No, no, no, he came in here to buy a box of Kotex for his wife and I say since your weekend’s already screwed up you might as well go fishing.”

Wu-Long Tea for slimming?

Monday, May 28th, 2007

i was just surfing around for a nice place for dinner at e-media and i spotted this advertisement Wu-Long Tea for slimming.

apparently Oprah also takes this tea and has slimmed down tremendously…

but is it just a myth/fiction or another sales gimmick? i too drink chinese tea everyday after lunch but i dont seem to be loosing pounds!!

is there something extra in their tea?

i wonder… meanwhile i think i better up my dose of ginseng Wu-Long Tea after lunch and dinner as well! and see if it works!!

a new bed

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

this weekend was spent on furniture shop hopping!!
i have just begun a quest to search for a new bed..

so far i have gone to EverHome, HomeLife, Cavenzi, T&T, Getha, and the list goes on! (didnt go to Ikea cos i hate going there during weekends the human traffic its madness!)

i just cant find a simple and nice enough bed which is within my budget…

gosh… i didnt know getting a bed is so difficult!!

i like solid wood beds, but the price is so high…
those that are within my budget are so fugly looking~
some that i like dont have it in king size~~
i like white colour, and there isnt much choices~~~
i just need the bed, but they want to sell the whole set~~~

goodness i’ve wasted so much time… i think i might as well just brave the human traffic and shop for one at ikea…

Just got back from a eating spree in Penang and a relaxing 3 days at Cameron Highlands…
Then i realised i got Tagged by Jasmine! so here it is albeit a little late but better than never!!

Monday 19 July 2004

Yup thats the day i started this blog! very much have changed from that time till now…

So the question is who are my readers??

Jasmine aka Jazzmint we used to be in the same school but only got closer after i was “reintroduced” to her by my friend Soul Collector (thats not his real name just his pseudonym) she has been very supportive of my blogging all these years!

Soul Collector - my good old trusty friend who used to listen to me whine and whine everyday, he used to blog too but now he doesnt anymore… he does keep track of my blog sometimes but not as often as before when he would comment almost everyday..

Sue my old classmate from secondary school, we lost touch and “found” each other back in blogosphere.

Vicki my old class mate from Sunway College days… she doesnt blog but she enjoys blog hopping.. and one of my strongest supporter…

Carmen, Chermaine also my old classmates from BBGS, Carmen dont blog, Chermaine does but hasnt been writting much these days, but they do watch this space for my updates…

Cheryl my old boss in MMS, whom i just found out today, has a blog of her own too!! and she has a link here, so i guess she is also one of my silent readers….

Along the way i do get some response from some of my ex colleagues and net friends i.e. Eddie and Peter the pear… but i guess there could be more silent readers whom i dont know who they are… but would be nice to know whom one day!
so with that im gonna end this Tag, with a Tag to:

Cheryl and Sue

this morning, we went for dim sum, and then rushed home cos mom wanted to watch the badminton final’s so we were stuck to the tv the whole afternoon… for dinner, we decided to eat at home, cos everywhere we went yesterday and today was fully packed to the brim and the service and quality of food was so so only.. not to mention the time wasted waiting for table and then for food to be served… bleah…. not exactly my cup of tea… cos im quite impatient..

my mom thought me how to cook lap mei fan… yum yum… shall share the recipe with online tomorrow as the picture i took turned out too dark :P

must consult my sifu jasmine how to photoshop it first!

Journey to the North …

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

We started our journey to Penang this Sunday morning with only ONE plan … looking for GOOD FOOD!

First stop - Bidor 2:30pm

This is a small town in Perak about 70km south of Ipoh. It’s just off the North South highway and synonymous for its HERBAL DUCK. There are a number of restaurants serving it but the famous one is Pun Chun. In the past, their ducks are so famous that they are sold out by 1:00pm on weekends. But today, they are available throughout the day ;o)

Bidor Herbal Duck

Herbal Duck Soup

Bidor Herbal Duck

Plain Wanton Noodle … the texture is just right and yummy!

Bidor Herbal Duck

Herbal Duck Noodle - combo of the above two

Wanton mee with Char Siew

For non duck eaters like my Papa - you have this char siew version ;o)

Second stop - Ipoh 3:40pm

It took us about 40 minutes to reach Ipoh from Bidor through a mixture of old trunk road and highway. Along the way you will see small roadside stalls selling fresh lotus pods (filled with lotus seeds). It tastes a bit like nuts but you should try it for yourselves. In Bidor, these lotus pods will cost about RM5 for 12 but here, they are only RM1 for 5!

Close up on Lotus Pod
