While browsing in Wikipedia, I came across a picture of the Malaysian Scorpene class submarine, KD Tunku Abdul Rahman. The image description given in French:
“Submarine Altantuya classe Scorpene durant ses essais à Lorient”
which when translated (by Babel Fish) means:
“Submarine Altantuya classifies Scorpene during its tests in Lorient”
Check it out at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Scorpene_malaisien_vue_de_trois_quart_arriere_2.jpg
Since when is Malaysia known as Altantuya … I can only wonder ;p
Without a doubt, Maybank has the largest reach in term of ATM network in Malaysia. You will see the yellow ATM machine everywhere in shopping complexes, petrol stations, etc.
If you are a Maybank customer, are you aware that Maybank does not charge RM8 annual fee for their ATM services unlike most other Banks. However, only the first 4 cash withdrawals in a month is free.  Each withdrawal thereafter is charged RM0-50.
But there’re ways to avoid the charge. First, maintain minimum of RM5,000 in your account. If that’s not possible, withdraw RM1,500 every time. Apparently, withdrawal of RM1,500 is not counted. You may then deposit the balance of the sum back into a cash deposit machine.
e.g. You intend to withdraw RM300. Just make a withdrawal of RM1,500 from the ATM and deposit the balance RM1,200 into the Cash Deposit machine.
From what I heard, Maybank is earning as much as RM1 million per month from the small RM0-50 fee. And their income from other Bank customers using their ATM network is even more interesting, a whopping RM18 million a month!!! Just to show, small fee goes a long way ;p
Time must be real tough that today I saw a donation box in the middle of Masjid India bazaar set up by PAS. The transparent perspex box carries the message “Dana untuk pilihanraya Bukit Selambau” (Funds for Bukit Selambau by-election).
Most people looked at the box and walk past it with their own thoughts. As of 1.30pm, looks like the organizer was doing quite well with at least half the box (about 25cm x 25cm) filled. Wonder what other ideas the political parties would come up with next.
It has been ages since one of us posted something up. While things are getting quieter at home, sorry to say that things around seems to be getting worst (world economy that is).
It is really really sad to see our country’s leaders (all parties) seem to be paying so much attention to the tug of war to power that we are left to fend for ourselves.
With the economy going so badly, some so called leaders could still be so selfish as to jump parties or call for snap election. Aren’t they aware that whenever there’s an election, the cost which runs to millions are paid from the hard earned tax payer’s money?
If I have my way, I would write the law to state something like:
I apologize if I offended anyone by airing my views. This is not our normal post here but it’s really frustrating to see that while millions are fighting to keep their rice bowl, our elected leaders are too busy with their own agendas.
My old faithful car battery decided to give up on Mother’s Day. It’s just a day shy from being under the bonnet for 4 years and 8 months! That is more than twice the time that most standard lead acid battery can service on an auto car.Â
It sure left with a memory. Everything went awfully wrong tonight. Every single traffic light we passed were red. 2 of the restaurants we wanted to have dinner at was having a wedding dinner and the other was closed. Finally we went to Portugese Settlement (in Melaka) for seafood. I had to leave everyone behind to order the food first and went home to switch car in case that I could not restart the engine once it’s parked. Boy, was it packed in Portugese settlement. It took an hour for the food to be served. Right now feel like I am chilli overdosed ![]()
My colleagues have been experimenting with this simple remedy for a couple of weeks and seems to work well. If your children seem to cough at night, try rubbing some Vicks VapoRub on the sole of their feet. This may not be new to some but it has been an interesting finding in the office.
From Vicks website, they suggest rubbing it on the chest or throat to relief cough. But it seems to work better by rubbing on the sole. Happy trying! ![]()
It is just over 2 weeks since the election and while things remain unrest in some states and in many of the so called community leaders’ heads, let’s enjoy some “political” songs posted in YouTube :

We decided to burn up the extra “protein” we consumed in Coliseum Cafe last nite by taking a stroll up Bukit Gasing this morning. As it has been pouring in KL almost every day, the path was a bit more challenging due to the mud and slippery ground. In addition, we had a surprise encounter with a 7 feet Sumatran Spitting Cobra (naja sumatrana), one of the biggest we have seen todate. While we were fiddling with the camera phone, the snake made an escape and we only managed to snap the tail portion (see below).

Tail of our “friendly” Bkt Gasing snake (inset - the real deal)
To make things more interesting, Eve’s shoes gave way to a BIG SMILE
We borrowed from nature a crawler and used it to tie the sole and made it back to the car. The best shoes for this trail is a cheap one. We have seen a few Adidas, Nike, etc sole being left behind on the trail … at least now we know how they felt

Poor shoes … could not take the beating any more

Get used to this number. In the recent Consumer Price Index (CPI) announcement in Singapore, CPI has risen by 6.6% between Jan 2007 and Jan 2008. However, between Dec 2007 and Jan 2008, the increase was by 1.3%! If prices continue to grow by 1.3% per month, the annual inflation rate in Singapore could be as high as 16.7%!!!Â
With petrol price increase after the election, we can expect CPI increase in Malaysia too. Although Bank Negara was quite confident that our economy is not directly impacted by the US economy and no change was made to our interest rate during their last meeting, will this situation last? How long will it be before our interest rate is raised to curb inflation?  ![]()
