Car jack on Kesas

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

A colleague shared that her brother’s 2 days old Toyota Camry was hijacked on Kesas highway yesterday.  The hijackers bumped into his car and naturally one would come down to see the damage.  He was held at knife point by 3 guys and releaved of his car.  The hijackers were driving a Honda (didn’t ask what make).

Lucky for him, he was left by the road side unharmed.  To make things worst, no one came to his aid nor stop when he hailed.  He was forced to walk all the way to Summit.

Moral of the story, be careful when you meet an accident.  This modus operandi is not new.  Try to take note of the number plate of the car, model and colour and the time of the accident.  Then drive slowly to a populated area like petrol station or highway R&R to negotiate.  If the other car dissappears from sight, you can go to the nearest police station to make a report of the incident.  And this is the time one would wish that they had installed a satellite tracking device on their car.

I spot a “PIG” in LRT

Friday, January 18th, 2008

Remember the ad of a guy who refused to give up his seat in the LRT couple of years ago? He pretended he was sleeping and all?

Well, few days ago another breed was spotted on the busy morning LRT. Despite the crowd standing around him, this young and more than able guy was more concerned about his beg falling over. Sigh! With all the campaigns on “Malaysian cares”, you still have such inconsiderate “pig” around.

Bali & its world of massages

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Thanks to Air Asia, Bali is now a cheap holiday destination (even when compared to Langkawi!). And a trip down south is not complete if you don’t try one of their famous massages. But the question is where?

Everywhere you turn in Bali, there’s a massage parlour. The offer starts from Rp35,000 (RM13) for an hour of traditional massage to a whopping Rp400,000 (RM144) or more for a fancy 3 to 5 hour package of mandi (scrub or bath) and ayurvedic or other style of massage of your choice.

We have probably tried about a dozen massages in Bali and our favourite is Passion Spa in Ubud. Ubud is an hour drive from Denpasar airport and spots a cooler weather somewhat like Ringlet in Cameron Highlands. Passion is located off the main road and surrounded by Padi field, fruit trees and shrubs. Owned by some ang moh (like most other businesses in Bali), the furnishing is both traditional and modern …. zen is the word to describe it. The main person to look for here is Iyan Yaspriyana and you just have to try his Ayurveda massage.  Passion is not the cheapest spa around but it is worth the experience Smiley

Team Italy @ 26Aug2007

(picture above taken from http://www.mifc.com.my)

I saw from Jasmine’s site on those lovely pictures she took during her two trips for the Team Malaysia and Team Australia and that tempted me to go along with her yesterday night for the Team Italy.

Left the house at 7.30pm sharp and waited after the toll for her and sue to come and lead the way.

While we were stuck in the traffic jam in front of PICC. My dad who was driving the car lost them as there was one turning where the road ahead was blocked and all the cars 3 lanes converged into one lane, he being the good samaritan let the cars cut in front of us and we LOST sue and Jasmine!

SO frustrating, the phone networks were not working, i could only send sms! Then *pop* someone uttered the golden all time favorite “I want to go toilet!”. Already lost and now this pulak *slap forehead*

In the end we parked in front of this building (Kementrian Pertanian & Industri Asas Tani) and went to use their loo. While waiting i took a picture of where we were and sent it to Jasmine, so she would know where we were and maybe still meet up. No reply… Network still congested!

Came back to the car, my dad already took out the 4 portable chairs we brought along and placed it at a place that the view of PICC was not obstructed. So ok la… No choice we will watch from here. By time jasmine managed to call us we already settled down & i was at the loo :P (good choice to park here, near access to toilets haha!)

Didn’t have pictures cos we were quite far away, and those which i did manage to take was so kecil mayung… but please go and view it at jasmine’s site or here at Christopher’s (my brothers pal) Flickr for Team Malaysia and Team Australia they are really good shots!Put some here to tease you to go over hehehe

Tips.
1. If you don’t intend to pay to enter, then bring along a mat or some chairs to sit.
2. Bring mosquito coils
3. Binoculars
4. Be patient its a massive jam to get there (we left the house at 7.30 reached only about
9.15pm) and after the show we only got home about 1.08am.

Living dangerously in Cameron

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

After the the incident with the tiger, we found more proof of dangerous wildlife of Cameron.

**Eve shoved W away and took over the keyboard now**

I was walking about… Stretching and enjoying the nice cool air… Then i spotted something on the grass… Squinted my eyes to have a good look at what it was, because i had absentmindedly left my glasses at office and I’m now blind as a bat!

When my brain finally registered what the blurry image was… I stayed rooted to the ground holding my breath at the “two eyes staring back at me”!!

Something thats not meant to be there was staring back at me!!!There was this dreaded bunny teeth snake lurking on the grass… *i gave out a loud piercing scream*

Bunny teeth snake

*mutter mutter*

hak sei ngo la…. never mind, walk the other direction, then while i was outside the tennis court area admiring the beautiful purple flowers, i don’t know what its named (maybe you can help me here if you know :P ) its so pretty almost “curi” it back hehehe..

Quickly looked left and right, NO ONE, and the gardener not around, my lips curled into a smile….

*evil grin* muahahaha!!! My chance is here!!! *rubs hands*

Stretched out my hand…. THEN i spotted this fella also peeking back at me!!

Giant wasp in the flower

Grrrr… That’s the work of *someone* who took the souvenirs we bought and put them in the garden for me to discover :P

How? Want to scold also cannot stop laughing, want to whack the fella also cant run fast enough ! Cis!

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

I was forwarded this email where it is supposed to be the welcome note on board a fright from Shenzhen to Qingtao by China Southern Airlines:

Good afternoon, Ladies and the German. This is your cheap purser Wang Lui speaking.

On behalf of China Sudden Airlines, I would like to welcome you on board our Bowling 737 from Shenzhen to Qingtao.

Members of my crew speak Chinese and other languages that you do not know. It is a great pressure serving you to-die.

Should you need any resistance during the fright, peace do pest the call button. I and my gals are available to make you feel comfortable.  Meanwhile, the airkwaft is going to fry. Peace sit upright and keep you belt tightly fastened until dinner is served at five dirty p.m.

Hope you would enjoy your fright with us. Funk kill.

TIGER in Cameron Highlands

Monday, August 13th, 2007

First day in Cameron Highlands and we came across a tiger in the garden! It was first sighted by Evelyn who ran for her life … but then she came back with the camera and pass it to me and ran again … aiyoh!

So, here we have a picture of the tiger.  Thousand apology for the pic quality … panic mah!

Tiger in Cameron Highlands

This is no ordinary tiger, it has thousands of eyes, a pair of wings, 6 legs and can hang on to a leaf. Well, you don’t expect to find real tigers in the garden do you? We stumbled across a moth measuring about 15cm or 6 inches in diameter with tiger stripes like pattern.  This one is considered lucky as moths and butterflies are harvested in Cameron Highlands and sold as souvenirs to tourists in glass frames or plastic key chains.  Poor thing not only has to fight the climate change, deforestation but also its unnatural predators, human.  As the ads say, “When the buying stops, the killing will to“. Until tourists stop buying the dead butterflies and moths, they will continue to be hunted.

Cameron Tiger Moth

Now back to our lil discovery, the moth actually reminds me of something, with the big eyes and fierce look ….

Tiger Moth vs Barong Mask

… the Balinese Barong mask  … nice reminder of the Chinese Ghost month which begins today ;o)

Anna & The King

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

Featuring:

Anna Thai Restaurant as Anna
My Papa as The King
Father’s Day as The Occasion
Tiara Beach Resort, PD as The Location

We decided to travel down to Tiara Beach Resort in Port Dickson for dinner. There is this Thai restaurant which my parents had been raving about and we thought that we all give it a try. From the Seremban - PD highway, just drive straight until you come to a mini roundabout. Take a 9 o’clock and drive for another 8 km. You will see signboard to Tiara Beach Resort and Anna Thai restaurant will greet you on the left hand side. The front of this resort resembles a row of shop lots rather than a hotel.

Anna Thai Restaurant

First impression:

The layout of this restaurant is nothing fancy with some decor and drawings telling you that “we serve Thai food” kinda thing. The aircond is quite keng chow … so ladies in spaghetti straps might just end up with goose bumps.

The menu is not super long
